Biotic Processes
Within the Great Barrier Reef many biotic processes take place. All animals living on the reef are part of a complex and tightly knit food web, meaning when one food source fails it will damage the whole ecosystem,
particularly the animals higher up. There are many symbiotic relationships occurring on the reef. A symbiotic relationship is a relationship where two different species mutually benefit off each other. An important symbiotic relationship on the reef is between the zooxanthellae and the coral polyp.
